A recent health article stated that when you eat a steady diet of fatty fast foods, it does more than strain your blue jeans!
According to scientists at Sweden’s Karolinska Institute, eating a fatty diet actually changes genes by altering the function of DNA in certain cells.
The fat they studied was a saturated fatty acid called palmitic acid, one of the two most common saturated fatty acids. It may raise both good HDL and bad LDL cholesterol, even when it is eaten in moderation.
The scientists concluded that the net effect of such a fat-rich diet is that it switches off the gene that helps control insulin regulation and use. And that, they agree, may lead to Type-2 Diabetes.
So, for your own health and beauty, reduce your fat intake (particularly of saturated and trans fats).
