Alicia Silverstone was born on October 4, 1976 in San Francisco, CA and was raised in a “traditional Jewish household”.
Alicia never completed high school; when she was 6 years old she began modeling and, subsequently, was cast in television commercials (the first one being for Domino’s Pizza), then TV dramas, and eventually movies.
Even after all her success, Alicia says “I’m reachable for people, I’m not out of their league. I’m just a normal girl.”
Alicia became a vegan in 1998 after attending an animal rights meeting. She said, “I realized that I was the problem. I was an animal lover who was eating animals.” In 1998 she was voted “Sexiest Female Vegetarian” by PETA. In 2007 Alicia appeared nude in a print advertisement and 30-second commercial for PETA championing vegetarianism – the TV spot was subsequently pulled by Comcast Cable.
Alicia has this to say about being vegan – “Once I went natural, my skin changed dramatically and my eyes got really bright.”
Alicia famously changed her life years ago to be as green as possible and, along those lines, has designed a makeup accessory line of bags for Eco Tools. The bags are made of natural hemp, recycled material, and non-toxic inks.
In August 2009, she appeared on the cover of Health Magazine, promoting her new book and beauty products, where she revealed she likes to swim and garden in the nude. She also revealed that she would like to write a children’s book after she has a child.
Alicia married Christopher Jarecki on June 11, 2005. Chris is the lead singer of the rock band S.T.U.N. They were married in a beachfront ceremony in Lake Tahoe.
Alicia went barefoot on a rocky beach; the tabletops were decorated with apricots and onions and at midnight everyone gathered around a campfire and sang Beatles songs between bites of vegan burgers.
Alicia and Chris live in her eco-friendly Los Angeles house complete with solar panels and an organic vegetable garden. They also share the house with a “menagerie of rescued dogs”.
