Gwen Renée Stefani was born on October 3, 1969 in Fullterton, California.
Gwen is a distant cousin of Madonna. Her great-aunt’s mother-in-law shares the same last name with Madonna.
After graduating from high school in 1987, Gwen attended Fullerton College and then transferred to California State University. Gwen’s brother, Eric, belonged to the group “No Doubt” and invited her to start singing with them in 1986. Gwen left college for one year to tour with the band and never returned. Gwen stayed with No Doubt until 2004 when she went out on her own and to develop a solo career and had two successful albums. Gwen has this to say about leaving the band “Everybody’s making it like there’s all this new tension, you know, like I stepped away from the band and now they’re jealous of me, and look, maybe there is a little bit of that.”
Gwen made most of the clothing she wore on stage with No Doubt, which eventually led to her launching a fashion line name L.A.M.B. in 2004 and her clothes are worn by such celebrities as Teri Hatcher and Nicole Kidman.
In late 2006, Gwen released a limited edition line of dolls called “Love, Angel, Music, Baby Fashion Dolls”. The dolls are inspired by the various costumes that she and the Harajuku Girls wore while touring for the album.
In late summer 2007, Gwen launched a perfume ‘L’ as part of her L.A.M.B. collection of clothing and accessories.

Lipstick Trick- While her red, red lips are part of the ‘Stefani Style’, according to the pop star, when she wants a matte look, she applies powder over her lipstick. When she is going for a more subdued look, she applies her lipstick straight from the tube. She swears by MAC Matte Lipstick in Russian Red and says her husband, rocker Gavin Rossdale, is a big fan of her red lipstick.
Just Peachy- With two kids and a thriving fashion line, Gwen probably isn’t getting much sleep. To cover up dark undereye circles, she uses a peach skin corrector pen by Dior Skinflash. It can be worn under or over foundation – great for touch-ups on the go!
Face Forward- To get those rosy cheeks, Gwen is a fan of MAC’s Fawntastic Cream Colour Base, even using it for her L.A.M.B. fashion shows. Gwen has a long history with MAC – in high school, she worked at the MAC counter at a local department store.
Baby Love- It seem Gwen’s kids have inspired her skin care routine. For moisturizer, she confesses to a serious jones for Johnson & Johnson baby lotion (in the pink bottle).
Hair Raising- The ‘Stefani Style’ includes some pretty outrageous dos such as braids, bouffants, and elaborate twists, just to name a few. How does Gwen keep them in place? She always has a supply of Pantene Pro-V Sheer Volume Hairspray.
As far as being a mother, Gwen says “It’s one thing when you have an infant, but when you have this two- or three-year-old going ‘Mommy, what’s the deal?’ it’s harder. Kingston’s whole thing is, ‘I need, I need.’ He is insane right now. We’re just hoping for the best and that he’s not going to turn out to be a freak, but we’ll see.”
